Last week Business Insider releases a “hit piece” article blatantly attacking Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and accusing him of raping 3 girls.
They conveniently released this article the day before Portnoy’s stock $PENN announced earnings, causing the stock to tumble a bit.
Interestingly enough the CEO of Business Insider Henry Blodget was permanently banned by the Security and Exchange Commission in 2003 for committing insider trading.
From the beginning of the article no actual proof or evidence was included, purely paraphrased statements of 3 young girls who were apparently too scared to reveal their identities.
As quickly as hours after the article was published Portnoy published his response and began to gather evidence of his innocence (below) and posted his Instagram correspondences with each woman, which corroborated his story and proved their words false.
Yesterday Portnoy recorded an hour-long live stream explaining in detail the timeline of all events as well as providing physical proof of his innocence.
Below is the proof, as well as other relevant information.
Writer of the story, Julie Black deleted over 4,000 of her tweets the day before the article was released in order to hide her hatred bias towards Portnoy and Barstool Sports.
She was not able to hide everything however, as a Twitter user found this tweet from her in 2017 which shows her dislike for Barstool Sports, even 4 years ago.
Business Insider emails all companies that advertise with Barstool Sports in an attempt to have them break ties with Portnoy.
Sister of Accuser #1 states that she intentionally tried to set up Dave Portnoy to have sex with her 19-year old sister Allison.
Accuser #1 Allison states that she felt “very preyed on”, while it is her sister who in fact pushed her to sleep with Portnoy who did not even know who she was at the time
Also included in the excerpt from the story above are the statements that Allison was in shock from the experience and was “uncharacteristically quiet” because of her apparent “emotional distress” surrounding the event.
These statements are immediately proved incorrect by screenshots below provided by Portnoy from his personal messages on Instagram.
Firstly we show the messages sent between Allison (left) and Portnoy (right) where it is clear that Allison is doing the pursuing…
The subsequent messages show Allison on a separate day once again reaching out to Portnoy first who agrees to meet with her and also clearly states “if you don’t want to do anything, we won’t”.
The following messages below from Allison show that she was clearly not in shock or in an emotional traumatic state immediately after her night with Portnoy.
Even two days later on August 2nd, 2020 she once again reaches out to Portnoy and gives him her phone number in case he wants to text her. This is clearly and logically not something that a person who feels like they got raped would do.
Nantucket Police state that they had never received any complaint or phone call as reported by Business Insider in their article
This is one of the clearest pieces of evidence that the story was entirely made up. The department was not investigating Portnoy in any capacity.
August 10th, 2021 – 8 days after sleeping with Portnoy the mother of Allison files a police report in which she says she only wants to report “Dave Portnoy’s bad behavior”
Another piece to notice here is how Allison states she has absolutely no memory of going to Portnoy’s house (2nd paragraph) yet somehow has provided concrete details about what supposedly happened that night.
Business Insider publishes false rape statements from Accuser #2 (Madison) about Portnoy
Accuser #2 (Madison) comments on her Tik Tok posts that Portnoy is not a rapist, and everything was consensual
Portnoy admitted in his live-stream yesterday that after having sex with Madison he made her sleep on the couch because they didn’t agree on a lot of big life issues, such as politics.
Portnoy is a supporter of Donald Trump and even interviewed him in person last year. Portnoy states that this greatly upset Madison as she has very left-wing political views and even constantly spews hate towards Donald Trump on Twitter, as shown below.
Portnoy believes that since he made her sleep on the couch, as well as having radically different political views, she decided to try and attack his character with these allegations.
Accuser #2 (Madison) posts about Portnoy on her Instagram, saying he was just “lame and grumpy”
These are not things you say about someone that raped you. Without any other proof, you could purely look at the tone of these captions and come to the conclusion that she is not happy with Portnoy, but however was not traumatized or raped by him.
Accuser #3 (Ava Louise) admits that she blatantly lies and creates fake news herself
Ava Louise, which is the third accuser and has not seen Portnoy since 2017 goes on Dr. Phil earlier this year and states that she created fake news in order to benefit herself and her career.
Portnoy and Barstool Sports invite Business Insider staff on their show to discuss the story
Julia Black (writer of the story), Nicholas Carlson (Global Editor-in-Chief), and the rest of the Business Insider team decline Portnoy’s invitation to clarify and confirm their story.
As of today November 12th this is as far as the story has progressed thus far.
Dave Portnoy has backed up his arguments with screenshots of correspondences, official police reports, videos, and various other forms of proof while the team at Business Insider has done nothing except put their story behind a pay-wall.
We will be watching to see if Business Insider eventually admits their blatant lies and apologizes to Portnoy for defamation of character.
